Training Online Vs. In-person Training For Administering Botox

By Alina Karemin

Botulinum toxin injections, fondly called Botox injections, are now common practice the world of cosmetic surgery. Highly specialized Botox treatments are used for a wide variety of symptoms, including smoothing of fine lines and wrinkles, and for other kinds of medical issues as well. To be licensed to deliver Botox injections, medical professionals have to complete the in-depth training required. As technology advances quickly, there are those who look to obtain their training and certification over the internet.

Can one learn all they need to administer Botox injections online? The other option is to learn in-person. Well, the answer is that both of them go hand-in-hand. This can be analyzed more in-depth.

Getting online training

The main advantage of online training is that subject matter can be taught to a person in the comfort of their own home at their own convenience. Online training is not only limited to courses or short videos but can also include live seminars and webinars. Training programs can also send out DVDs that people can watch and their own leisure.

It does make learning on the internet sound pretty great, but Botox can't be injected on a computer, a real life scenario is necessary. There really is no way to learn all that is necessary without trying it personally, watching it is not enough. A person watching videos of a transplant surgeon wouldn't be qualified to do that kind of procedure, obviously. It takes practice with a doctor present to supervise and give criticism in order to gain the skill needed to do the procedure on one's own.

In-person training

This kind of hands-on training happens with a patient who volunteers for the procedure, and at times a training dummy is also used. This form of training is always performed under supervision until the supervisor (usually a physician) is confident that the trainee can perform the procedure independently. The trainee will get a great benefit from this kind of training since the professional is on-hand, and mistakes can be corrected; something that they cannot learn from online training due to the lack of feedback.

The only real negative about training hands-on is that it requires experts to be physically available. Busy professionals need to take time out of the regular schedules to attend these training programs to teach the trainees. It is a time-consuming process, and there is also the venue for the training to take place to be considered. As we view this problem from a larger scope and think about; safety and the results of the procedure for patients, online training just does not measure up to what is learned hands-on.

Combining hands-on with online training

Learning to administer Botox injections is best done by using both of these methods. Leaning theory and watching online videos can be done at home, and then a training program that is hands-on can be attended to learn the rest. After viewing and learning from the internet, the trainee can go to the hands-on training with sufficient knowledge to go through the processes much easier. This form of training seems to work very well these days. Furthermore, there are complex animations that can now be easily created explaining different procedures which can prepare trainees regarding what they should expect when they attend a formal hands-on training program for Botox injections.

Conclusion

Online training and hands-on training for Botox injections go hand-in-hand. Both methods have their unique advantages, and when they are used in conjunction with each other, the most is gained by trainees learning Botox treatment methods.
