3 Great Moves to a Great Butt

Here's What You Will Need:
A Swiss Ball, resistance band or for even better results a TRX

Here's Your Home Butt Lift Remedy (The Exercises):
For each of the exercises, do a complete cycle that includes one set each. Once you complete all three sets in the cycle, repeat for a second and then a third set. Do this program for two to three days a week with at least one day of rest between each day of exercise. Ready... here we go!
1. One- Legged Squat
Use a TRX to hold onto or hook a resistance band around something sturdy, or anchored to a door. Place one foot on the floor and the other leg out in front, then keeping chest over the knee sit back 90 degrees and press through your heel to straighten leg. Repeat 10-15 repetitions on each leg to complete the set.

2. Hamstring Curl Using the Swiss Ball or TRX
Lie on your back and place your calves on the ball or place heels in your TRX with straps knee height to mid-length. Lift your hips off the floor and pull knees in towards chest keeping the hips the same height or even better, lifting the hips slightly as you pull knees in. Start out trying to do as many as you can in 30 sec and then continue to increase the time by 5-10 seconds each workout. You can also increase the challenge by starting with the ball further away from you, or if you are using a TRX moving further in front of your anchor point. When you finish your hamstring curl go right into this next move with as little rest as possible.

3. Bridge Using the Swiss Ball or TRX
Bend knees 90 degrees with feet on top of ball or heels in TRX. Lift hips straight up and down. If this move feels too intense place your legs over the ball so that your butt and backside of legs are all touching the ball as you lift and lower. For the TRX you can move further behind the anchor point, or take the legs out of the straps and place feet on the floor as you lift and lower the hips.

When you're finished don't forget to stretch! Here's how:
1. Lay flat of the floor and pull your knees into your chest, then drop knees to one side and head and arms to the other side. Repeat on the other side.
2. Roll back to starting position and raise one leg up in the air, centered with your body and hold until you begin to feel the muscles release (when doing this stretch you should not be shaking or in pain) Repeat on the other side.
3. Extend the right leg up like before but place the right ankle on the left knee, then place your left hand on the outside of the left knee to protect it, with both feet off of the floor and hold, you should feel this in your outer hip. Repeat this on the other side.
As with any exercise program it's important that you listen to your body. Getting "the sizzle" about half way through each set is normal, but pain in joints is not. If you feel low back pain, knee pain, or deep pain in the glutes you should consult your healthcare professional before continuing with the exercises. Keep in mind that these three exercises should be part of a balanced full body workout, to prevent injuries and improve performance for life!

What Are the Best Weight Loss Pills

Being overweight or obese is not just bad for our image and self-confidence but can also cause many health issues such as heart disease, stroke or diabetes. Sometimes this obesity is causes by your genetics but more often it is because you are simply eating too much or not doing enough exercise.
If you are struggling with your weight you don't have to struggle any longer with gruelling diet and exercise regimes as there are so many different weight loss pills available that can make your dieting efforts much easier.
There are many different types of weight loss pill available so unless you have tried one in the past the process of picking one may seem daunting.
You should try not to become discouraged as you can find the perfect product with a little bit of research.
Here are some of the different types of weight loss pills:
Prescription
If your BMI is above 30 you may be able to qualify for a prescription pill. Although in some circumstances you may only need a BMI of 27 to qualify.
These prescription pills vary in type and are usually only for the short term so may not be the best option if you want to see real results.
Appetite suppressants
Using an appetite suppressant can help to reduce your food cravings as they release chemicals that send messages to your brain telling it that you are full even when you are not.
Another benefit of an appetite suppressant is the fact that they often release serotonin or catecholamine that can help to elevate your moods.
Fat binders
Using a fat binder can help to stop fat from being absorbed into your body.
Once fat has been consumed it is usually separated from the other nutrients read for absorption.
With a fat binder the fat molecules are made too large to be absorbed so are removed from your body through your bowels as waste.
Metabolism boosters
Metabolism boosters are often called fat burners. They can help you to burn calories by increasing your metabolic rate.
Often people have slow metabolisms so taking a weight loss pill like this could help to kick-start their metabolism.
The problem with metabolism boosters is that sometimes powerful stimulants are used. You should always check what ingredients are used and ensure there are no side effects caused.
On the whole weight loss pills are completely safe, you should still do your own research though and not believe the hype surrounding a certain product. Your own health is more important.
Two of the best products available are Proactol Plus, a proven fat binder and Phen375, which is a powerful fat burner.

How Do People Eat So Many Green Vegetables On The Medifast Diet?

I get a lot of emails from people who have concerns about complying with the Medifast lean and green meal. Basically, this is the main meal that you make each day which includes lean protein and vegetables. This sounds simple enough but some people get hung up on the specifics of it. And a common concern is eating all of those vegetables.
I heard from someone who said: "I am wondering how people fit in all of those greens on the Medifast lean and green meal. I will be honest. I do not like vegetables. I will not have any problem coming up with the lean protein part of the meal. But I am lost on that many vegetables. How do people do it?" I will address these concerns below.
You Are Only Looking At Three Small Servings Of A Wide Variety Of Vegetables:Many people have the perception that the vegetables that they chose must be green. They truly don't. Yes, some of the non green vegetables have more starch so you want to use those a little more sparingly. But there are countless vegetables that are fair game and many of them are downright tasty. Basically, you get a larger serving (1 cup) of green vegetables and a smaller serving (1/2 cup) of vegetables that are less green.
I understand not liking vegetables. I was not a big fan either. But honestly, if you are going to embrace a healthier lifestyle with the intention of keeping the weight off, then you need to look at them a little differently. They are necessary for good health and for maintaining a healthy weight and when prepared correctly, they are delicious.
Here's some suggestions. I personally adore red peppers. I actually prefer them raw. But they are also wonderful in a simple stir fry of onions, mushrooms and peppers. (I also love this combination in an omelet with eggs being my protein for that meal.) Also, you can buy this or other similar combinations frozen if you want so that all you have to do is heat them up.
Another possibility is a simple salad of lettuce, cucumbers and carrots or broccoli. (And if you are in a hurry can you add some lean chicken and have a salad as your meal. I also know that many people buy these from a store or drive through restaurant as long as you are careful with the dressing.) Steamed vegetables can also be a wonderful way to quickly get a lot of vegetables. Think about peas with cauliflower and asparagus. I even know of people having simple tomato soup with some leftover vegetables thrown in. Speaking of tomatoes, sliced juicy tomatoes with basil is absolutely delicious.
I know that many people assume that vegetables are very bland. But there are a couple of things that you can do to counter this. You don't want to over cook or over steam them. I eat them raw quite often for this reason. You don't want for them to be limp. Instead, they taste better crisp in my opinion. I also use seasonings. I know a lot of people like fresh herbs but I really like Cajun seasonings or hot sauce on mine. Some people use lemon juice. As long as you aren't adding sugar, fat, or carbs, experiment and see what tastes good to you.
The whole idea is for this to be very flexible so that you can learn to make lot of choices that give you a lot of variety. You don't want to force yourself to eat something you aren't going to like because then you aren't likely to continue it. And the whole idea is cultivating a healthier lifestyle that you can maintain once the weight is lost.

How Many Calories Should You Eat To Lose Weight?

If you want to lose weight it would make sense to know how many calories you need to consume just to maintain your weight. But how can we figure this out?
That's where your Basal Metabolic Rate or BMR steps in. Your BMR is the number of calories you would burn if you just sat on the sofa all day. If you know how many calories you burn just living, you will be able to calculate how many calories you need per day in order to maintain or adjust your body weight.
Make sense?
If you're eating clean and steering clear of booze, then you might not need to track your calories. However, if the scales or more importantly (in my book) your measurements are going down you may need to look at your calories in more detail, so that we can see exactly what is going on.
Once you have your BMR, you can use the equations below to multiply your BMR depending on your level of activity. This will give you a better understanding of the total calories you need to maintain your current weight.
Sedentary (very little or no exercise) = BMR x 1.2
Lightly Active (1-3 days/week of light exercise) = BMR x 1.375 (casually fit)
Moderately Active (3-5 days/week of moderate exercise) = BRM x 1.55 (team sports, frequent gym visitor)
Very Active (6-7 days/week of hard exercise) = BMR x 1.725 (semi-pro athlete, amateur body builder)
Extra Active (very hard exercising, physical job, or two-a-day training) = BMR x 1.9 (professional athlete, body builder)
Here's my example:
My BMR is 1922.59.
My activity factor is 1.55 as I am moderately active. 1922.59 x 1.55 = 2980.
2980 would be the amount of calories I would need each day in order to maintain my 185lbs (84kg/13 stone 2lbs) of body weight at my current activity level.
If you're unsure about your own current activity level I would perhaps look at calculating your maintenance calories based on a sedentary lifestyle or being lightly active. This will give you a base to work from and see to it that you're not over consuming calories. I'm assuming that the goal here is to burn excess lard, but if you're more concerned about maintaining your weight then, of course you'll want to know exactly how many calories you need with your current activity level.
Obviously this is a rough estimate, as it doesn't take into account muscle, body fat or bone density and should therefore be used as a guideline. However, it does give us a good basic idea of the calories needed to maintain our body weight at our current pace of life. From here we can then assess our actual calorie intake against our 'maintenance' level and adjust our intake accordingly.
I often see people lose weight earlier on when they start to exercise and sort out their diet, but as they progress they fail to reduce their calories for their new weight.

Fitness: Healthy Living As A Habit

There are so many words that are conjured up when we think of fitness. Healthy, in shape and lifestyle come to mind immediately. There is another word that needs to be there as well: Habit. Fitness and healthy living are not something that you decide to do for a weekend. They are something you do for life.
Some folks are lucky in that from the time they were very young, they lived a life of fitness and healthy choices. Being healthy for them as an adult comes naturally because it is something that they have done their whole lives. For the rest of us, choosing fitness as a lifestyle is a conscious decision that has required a lot of thought and effort on our part. Some of us will struggle with how to accomplish this healthy lifestyle for nearly our whole lives.
A lifestyle change requires a lot of effort. Consider the word, lifestyle. The style of your life. Generally it's not something that you can just change overnight. It's going to take some effort on your part. You will be making a lot of decisions about what to eat, what kinds of exercises to do, which health club to join and what your daily routine will include. When your goal is fitness, healthy lifestyle choices will need become habits.
A habit seems to be a double edged sword. For things that are not necessarily good for us, habits seem to come easy. Stopping by the coffee shop for that latte every morning required seemingly no effort at all. Smoking became a habit in a snap. Healthy choices can become a habit too, it's just a matter of choice and motivation.
If you do make the decision to make fitness a part of your life, you need to establish the choices that are part of fitness as part of your daily routine. In other words, you need to make them a habit. When your motivation to become healthy is strong, the habits are much easier to cement in place. This means that you need to think about what is motivating this lifestyle change. Is it something that you really want to do or is it something you are being told to do? It would be hard to argue with the fact that a healthy lifestyle is good for you. For some of us, that's good enough motivation. Others may need more incentive since this lifestyle change is a radical departure from what is normal for them.
Establishing a lifestyle change as habit may involve setting goals, seeking nutritional counseling, hiring a trainer and completely rearranging our daily schedule. If the motivation is strong, these things are easier to accomplish.
The bottom line is that if living with fitness, healthy lifestyle choices and overall good health is a strong enough goal for you, then the establishment of habits will be required and with the right motivations can be accomplished.

Like It Or Not, You ARE a Role Model

This one may hit a little close to home for many of you, but that's the point. I would hope that every parent wants to be a great role model for their kids. We want to teach them manners, bring them to church with us, be careful what we say in front of them, and of course not smoke or drink in front of them.
One thing I've learned from being a parent is that my 4-year old boy copies just about everything I do, whether I like it or not. Anything I do in front of him, it seems like he is immediately trying to repeat it until he gets it just right. For example, the other day I wadded up a piece of paper I found on the ground and threw it in the trash can about 10 feet away. As simple of an accomplishment as that was, he was mesmerized by it and attempted the same shot for what seemed like a dozen times until he made it in the trash can himself. It doesn't stop there though; he wants to walk like me, talk like me, and basically be me in every way. He has even gotten to the point of sitting in our recliner, crossing his ankles, and putting his hands behind his head... just like daddy. Anyone reading this who is a parent knows exactly what I mean. So whether you realize it or not, you ARE a role model for your kids. They will copy their parents' behaviors, good or bad.
So why is it that we think our kids won't also copy how poorly we treat our bodies? If eating fast food and other types of junk on a daily basis has become a habit, your kids are much more likely to follow that same lifestyle. And why is it that we talk about and want our kids playing outside more and staying as active as possible, yet we may not have exercised ourselves in years? I guess often times we want them to do as we say and not as we do; but nothing works better than leading by example.
A recent study came out showing that 50% of kids with overweight parents will become overweight themselves, compared to 13% of non-overweight parents. So it's no surprise that the childhood obesity rate will continue to rise as long as America's adult obesity rate is rising (which it is, at an alarming rate).
To me, this isn't an issue of whether or not it's acceptable to be overweight as a child, or about body image, or about any other excuses people like to come up with these days... it's about the health of you and your kids. Childhood obesity has been linked to numerous health problems such as joint pain, pre-diabetes, and even cardiovascular disease. In fact, obesity is one of the leading causes of cancer today, and that number is continuing to rise. Being overweight as a child means having a much greater chance of being overweight as an adult.
Bottom line is, at the end of the day, how your kids end up treating their bodies is greatly affected by how you treat your own body. Their health begins with following their parents' lead, and using them as role models. So for the sake of your children, make sure you're a good one.

The Vital Components to Build Muscles Fast

Would you like to build muscles fast? Are you sick and tired of not experiencing noticeable lean muscle gains after sweating it out at the health club everyday? Is your dollars getting lost on dietary supplements which do not live up to their promises to bulk you up quickly?
In case you have responded yes to all these questions, you've found yourself in the right place. It is easy to get results fast and without burning a hole in your pocket. The only thing that is necessary is some true knowledge on muscle growth and common-sense.
High intensity is a must.
When you wish to build muscles fast you need to do super-intense routines. Your gym workout routines must make you sweat, and you also must optimize your time spent at the health club by making every moment effective. These intense routines put the body into a state of shock, and it begins adapting and reacting to the tension, which consequently allows you build muscles fast.
Protein is the building block of muscle tissue.
Keep a check on your current protein consumption, making sure you're getting enough of it in your daily diet. Proteins build muscle mass, and you'll be unable to build muscles fast unless you take in enough proteins each day.
Be sincere to your eating plan.
You might weaken your ability to grow muscles if you consistently consume food that's filled with empty calories. So get your calories from healthful resources. Calories are required to increase strength and stamina and to get results fast.
Stay well hydrated.
Do you know that 70 percent of the muscle is comprised of water? You must consume a lot of water. The important ingredient in any lifters diet plan is water. You should consume no less than 0.6 ounces of water for every single pound of bodyweight, everyday.
Get adequate rest.
The gym is not the place you build muscle mass. Your training session only breaks down the muscles tissue. Your actual muscle development process starts after the work out stops. Taking sufficient rest between workouts is vital if you want to build muscles fast. You need to avoid training everyday if you want to build muscles fast.
Get sufficient sleep.
In addition, you ought to have enough sleep at night as well as taking enough rest. To build muscles fast, it is suggested that you sleep for around eight hours every night. Insufficient sleep lowers your body's testosterone and growth hormone levels. Lack of sufficient sleep is going to reduce the intensity with which you work out and in addition make it difficult for you to adhere to your diet program. Good sleep raises your body's fat burning potential, helping you to have that ripped appearance that we all want and to build muscles fast.

Getting Kids Involved in Nutrition Early

Last year when many schools around the country implemented new school lunch guidelines, the move sparked protest among students and the movement got off to a rocky start.
Children resoundingly rejected the new menus, forcing many school districts, Los Angeles Unified School District included, to re-evaluate their implementation plans.
The difficulties and issues school districts are facing with school lunches, however, run much deeper than just picky eaters. If a school district wants to instill a healthy lifestyle in students, they must implement nutrition plans that educate beyond the lunchroom.
Children must be taught health and nutrition at a young age, and then these plans must be executed throughout their educational career.
An example of one school doing this is Mark Twain Middle School in Los Angeles. They use a school garden as a catalyst for learning in various subjects like math and history, while using the food grown in the garden for school lunches.
This has led the Los Angeles school board to vote to expand nutrition education to be integrated into the curriculum.
"We have a sacred obligation to make sure we do everything in our power to raise the quality of our nutritional content," Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) board member Steve Zimmer said to The Los Angeles Times.
While they may not need to be as extensive as Mark Twain Middle School, other school districts must follow LAUSD's example if they want their new school lunch plans to have a lasting effect on children.
In addition to implementing nutrition programs into the curriculum, other measures can be taken.
Deborah Lewison-Grant and Carolyn Cohen, Co-Founders of FoodFight, an organization dedicated to raising health and nutrition awareness in schools, explained that teachers should set the example.
"We can't expect students to make healthy choices (either in or out of school) while the adults in their learning communities are plunking down sugary drinks, chips and candy bars on their desks and ignoring conventional wisdom about eating well balanced meals," Lewison-Grant and Cohen wrote in a blog post.
They continued, explaining that, however, teachers themselves must be educated in nutrition as well.
"At the same time, we can't expect teachers to act as role models for their students without giving them the knowledge they need to make healthier eating and buying decisions and supporting their own health and wellness needs," Lewison-Grant and Cohen wrote.
Ultimately, a combination of example and education is the only way to truly get children to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Just giving kids a new menu won't cut it, because they just won't eat.
