The Most Common Reason You Are Fat

Are you one of the millions around the world trying very hard to shed your excess fat only to end up disappointed? Are you tired and planning to give up? If losing fat has been an ongoing battle in your life, you are not alone in this battle. The most disheartening and frustrating thing in life is losing fat only to gain it all back.
You must first understand what brought you to this your present situation in the first place if you want to lose fat successfully and keep it off. Many people like you have struggled with excess fat and have tried several fat loss program that have left them disillusioned. Your relationship with food is the most basic reason you are fat. Many times you must have used food as an excuse to comfort yourself and eat when you are depressed and anxious.
One way to break your food addiction is to find one root cause for your overeating. Some people eat out of boredom, they watch TV and just want to eat some chips. One of the most difficult things to correct is your abusive relationship with food. Food addiction is unlike alcohol or drug that you can take away the offending agent.
You cannot take food away because you need food to survive. However, you should eat to live and not live to eat. You must train yourself to eat only enough to have enough energy to get you through your daily activities. Do not overindulge yourself by eating until you are stuffed. The excess fat you stored in your body is as a result of overindulgence.
However, you can make the necessary changes by realizing that you have unhealthy food habits. It is a mistake to think that exercise is the key to losing fat. Exercise is however only a very small part of the equation. The majority of fat loss success is due to your eating habits. If you want to be able to lose fat successfully and keep it, you must be able to control the amount of calories you eat and the kind of food you take.
Always keep in mind that a key factor to fat loss success is portion control. It is true that if you have been used to gorging yourself following a healthy eating lifestyle can be very hard, but there is no sacrifice too much to make if you genuinely want to have that body you desire.

Three Breakthrough Ideas Destine To Change The Way We Think About Health And Weight Loss

If you ask ten people on the street what has caused so many Americans to gain so much weight in recent years most will say, we eat too much and exercise too little. Many experts, including nutritionists and physicians, will go a step further and point out that millions of Americans are suffering from an energy surplus caused by consuming more calories than they burn each day.
There are several problems with using this theory alone to explain the recent explosion of obesity in the United States and around the globe. The problem that nutrition researchers often struggle with is. If our problem is simply a matter of too many calories and too little exercise, how does one further explain the unprecedented growth in obesity across such a wide range of diverse people in the past 30 years? The best thinkers agree that something obviously changed in the everyday lives (The external environment) of people to trigger the current obesity epidemic.
When all is said and done we will likely find that their multiple interrelated causes for our current obesity crisis. However, among the popular theories being considered and researched to unravel this mystery, there are three that I count as "Breakthrough Ideas" in the world of health and nutrition. They are breakthrough ideas not only because they make sense, but also, because they offer great potential for actually solving the problem. Debating the role of increased screen time in the form of television and video games, although interesting, may be causing us to ignore other major contributors to this problem.
The Link Between Toxins and Fat.
Are the toxins found in our food, water, and cosmetic products making us sick and fat? Bruce Bloomberg, PhD seems to think so. Dr. Bloomberg is among the growing number of researchers discovering links between common industrial chemical and an increase in the rates of obesity. As a research biologist at the University of California Irvine, he has coined the term Obesogens to describe a number of environmental toxins with the capacity to disrupt the delicate balance of hormones that regulate hunger, metabolism, and fat storage in our bodies. The work being done in the area is fascinating because it is one of the few theories that even explains the increase we've seen in the weight of infants - who can't be accused of not exercise enough.
The Link Between Gut Health And Fat.
There is a growing body of research that says the bacteria living in our guts (specifically our large intestine) plays a significant role in determining weight gain. These bacteria, commonly known as our gut flora, have been known to influence immunity, hormone balance, and detoxification. More recently, studies are showing that the quantity and type of bacteria in our guts are also directly linked to our weight. Research repeatedly shows that people with more of the beneficial types of gut bacteria are leaner than those with less. Two studies published in March 2013 and reported on in the New York Times (March 27, 2013) support this finding.
The Link Between Micronutrients And Fat.
Joel Fuhrman, M.D. is one of Americans leading authorities on the topic of nutrient dense eating. As a physician, speaker, and author he has commented extensively on the subject. In face, his ANDI scoring system for ranking the nutrient density of foods has been adopted by the national grocery chain, Wholefoods, to help customers make healthier purchasing decisions. Dr. Fuhrman hypothesizes that a lack of nutrients in our diet can lead to what he calls "Toxic Hunger". This is the desire for food that results from withdrawal-like symptoms which occur between meals. According to Dr. Fuhrman "Toxic Hunger" causes people to eat even when their need for calories has been met. Dr. Fuhrman is one of several leading authorities that influenced my thinking on the important role of micronutrients in health and weight loss.
If these three important ideas are proven valid the road to solving America's obesity problem becomes much clearer. No longer are we solely dependent on individual will power to overcome the compulsion to overeat or the lack of motivation to exercise. If these ideas are true, then getting more nutrient dense wholefoods inside Americans becomes the first step toward reversing our obesity woes. Healthy wholefoods are beneficial in all three of these areas. They are less toxic, promote good gut flora, and provide plenty of micronutrients.
There was a saying in ancient times that "All Roads Lead To Rome". Apparently the Romans were such prolific road builders throughout their vast empire, no matter what road one took it would likely lead them to the empire's great capitol.
In the world of health there have been many ideas about how to achieve optimum wellness. Over the years, there have been countless twists and turns regarding the important lifestyle habits needed to achieve great health. More recently however, it seems clear that what one chooses to put in her body has a greater impact on her health than any other single factor.

5 Unlikely High Protein Foods

If you're spending a significant amount of time in the gym, trying to get ripped, you should know that a resistance training regimen is only as good as the diet that supports it.
For maximum increases in muscle size and strength you will not only need to hit the weights hard, but also make sure you are taking in more high protein food than you otherwise would.
While carbohydrates are our bodies' primary source of fuel, and give us energy to function, proteins are our source of raw muscle-building material.
The amino acids that our bodies glean from the protein in food are used to rebuild damaged muscles and to construct new muscle tissue. These are the processes, induced by resistance training exercises, through which we make gains in muscle size and strength.
Whether you are considering a high protein diet for muscle gain, fat loss, or a combination of the two, the basic rule is the same. A high protein diet will include 30-50% of daily calories from protein, while the recommendation for a typical diet is between 10% and 15%.
It's not always easy to know what our bodies need. For example, you probably know that a cheeseburger contains a significant amount of protein, but it also comes with an unnecessary amount of fat: especially if your goal is to build lean muscle mass.
Lean meats like poultry, beans, and other legumes are good sources of protein that won't stick your body with all of the excess. But let's be honest: eating chicken day after day can get old pretty quickly. Here are 5 foods high in protein and relatively low in fat to help increase your protein intake in a way that will actually benefit your body.
1) Tofu and other soy products rank high among protein rich foods, and are a great option for omnivores and vegetarians alike. Add cubes of marinated, baked tofu to dishes like enchiladas and casseroles, or use them to top a salad, to increase your protein intake without adding many calories.
2) Soy beans, black beans, pintos and lentils: when increasing protein intake is the goal, beans give you a real bang for your buck (or calorie). Beans are also a good source of fiber, which means that eating them will leave you feeling fuller than many other foods, with a minimum of fat intake.
3) Dairy products are another often overlooked source of protein. The good news here is that low fat or no fat milks, yogurts, and cheeses actually contain comparable amounts of protein to their higher fat content counterparts. So again, you can consume more protein, and build more muscle, while keeping fat intake to a minimum.
4) Fish-and seafood in general-are another fantastic high protein food option. White fish and most shellfish contain relatively little fat. Even seafood options like salmon-which are fattier in contrast than other ocean-bred options- are full of mono unsaturated fatty acids:  the good fats that our bodies need.
5) Whole grains including whole wheat, barley, and rough cut oats are great options for increasing protein, fiber, and complex carbohydrate all at once. Making sandwiches with whole grain bread rather than white, or choosing brown rice regularly are simple ways to get more protein from the foods you eat already.
If you're working out hard, trying to build muscle, a high protein diet might provide just what your body needs. After all, with high protein food options like eggs, cheese, and fresh seafood, who wouldn't want to give muscle building a little boost?

An Unlikely Salad: Strawberries and Cucumber!

One of the more surprising salad combinations is strawberries and cucumbers. Sounds like a strange mix, doesn't it? Who would have thought such a combination would work fantastic together. Top that combo with almonds and some honey, and you're bound to make an impression on your guests. If you're looking for an unusual salad that tastes delicious yet is inexpensive and easy to make, look no further.
The total preparation time for this type of salad is no more than thirty minutes. The ingredients listed are the ideal amount for a party of four; increase or decrease as you see fit.
We'll start with 2 large cucumbers. First, peel them. Next, slice them directly down the middle into two halves, and then use a spoon and scrape out the seeds (try to scrape evenly so the cucumber half maintains a uniform appearance). The final step for the cucumbers is to cut the halves into medium-thick slices. Set these aside in a large bowl.
The next step is to trim and wash 8 ounces of strawberries. Make sure to use fresh strawberries (no bruised strawberries allowed!). Cut each strawberry into thin slices and add the slices to the bowl of cucumbers.
In a small bowl, whisk together the salad dressing ingredients: 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 2 tablespoons of honey, and 2 teaspoons of balsamic vinegar. Pour the dressing over the strawberries and cucumbers. Let sit.
In a small skillet set to medium heat, pour out the almonds and heat them for about 5 minutes. You'll need to either stir them or shake the pan to prevent them from burning. Important: do not add oil to the skillet! Heat the almonds in a dry pan. When the almonds are browned evenly, remove skillet from heat.
When it comes to eating food, second only to taste is aesthetic appearance. While we could simply pour the salad into small bowls, a much better way to showcase this enjoyable salad is to serve inside lettuce leaves. Rinse and peel Romaine lettuce leaves and use them to line the inside of salad bowls. Next, pour the cucumber and strawberry salad into each bowl. Finally, top them off with the browned almonds, and then sprinkle the mint leaves over each salad. Salt and pepper to taste, and enjoy!
This is a great salad that is quick to make and leaves a nice impression on your guests.

1 / 3 of a cup of slivered almonds
