Overweight? Your Self-Esteem Is Important - Love Yourself

There are three types of people. Those who're quite contented to be couch potatoes, those who're unhappy with the excess weight but do nothing about it and those who KNOW that only way to weightloss, health & fitness is to TAKE ACTION.
Those who take action are the ones who usually have a mountain of self-confidence. They acknowledge they need to lose weight, set a goal to achieve the ideal weight and fitness, then go all out to get there - and they normally do.
I've seen too many overweight people convince themselves that they're unattractive or abnormal. I think that's a shame because it undermines their self-esteem.
The effect of this is a lack of self-confidence, self pity and depression. This is reflected by the social awkwardness shown by many people who perceive themselves as unattractive just because they're overweight.
Y'know what? That's nonsense! YOU'VE GOTTA LOVE YOURSELF FIRST! Sure, you could lose a few pounds but you're as good as anyone else.
HOW DO YOU TELL THIS TO THE WORLD?
1. TAKE ACTION. Get on a diet program. The mere fact that you're doing something about your weight is a morale booster by itself.
2. WALK TALL. Yes! improve your posture. Lose the slouch. It makes your stomach look higher than it really is. Raise your head and stick out your chest. Show your new confidence in your posture. If you were to hire someone, who would you choose? The skinny person with the loser slouch or the overweight person whose posture says he or she can take on the Incredible Hulk?
3. ACT CONFIDENT (EVEN IF YOU DON'T QUITE FEEL IT). Practice this often enough, and it'll become a habit. Your confidence must be reflected in your walk (brisk, firm strides),speech (clear voice, good vocabulary, NO self-depreciating words), as well as your body language (good posture, appropriate gestures, good eye contact). You should also start on an exercise program. In addition to the weightloss and health benefits, your confidence will hit the roof. There are some good ebooks on weightloss, health and fitness you can get which contain great fatburning programs.
4. DRESS NEATLY & APPROPRIATELY - ALWAYS. Take pride in your appearance. It's the first impression of you the other person will get before he or she even speaks to you. Wear solid colors and avoid stripes - particularly horizontal stripes and wear pants with flared bottoms.
5. MAKE SURE YOUR BODY ODOUR IS PLEASANT. Believe it or not most people decide whether they like you or not by your body odour more than anything else. Have you ever been complimented about your perfume or cologne by someone you don't even know? Most of us have.
The human body secrets pheromones which blend with our colognes or perfumes to attract men or attract women. Some people produce more than others so that explains why some are more successful in romance than others. Pheromones are known to cause those of the opposite sex to become more receptive - even flirtatious towards poeple they don't even know. The good news is you can now get pheromones in a bottle.
Man, I'm having a good time writing this article because this is one of my favorite topics. I think I'll quit at this point though, and leave some tidbits for my other articles.
Remember, love yourself and TAKE ACTION. Make your journey towards weightloss, health and fitness a rewarding and enjoyable one.

A Guide to Carbohydrates and Weight Loss

Carbohydrates are nutrients that your body breaks down to create sugar. Like other nutrients, carbohydrates also provide vitamins and minerals. But what does this have to do with losing weight?
Why Does The Body Need Sugar?
The cells in our body use sugar to make energy and your brain runs off of it exclusively for fuel. So, just like gas for your car, carbohydrates keeping the motor running. And while it is also true your body can run off fat and protein for a while, it will eventually need to switch back to carbohydrates, otherwise it will start eating its own muscle for fuel - not a good idea when dieting since it lowers your overall rate at which your body burns calories.
Two Kinds of Fuel
There are two types of carbohydrates: simple and complex. Simple carbohydrates are easily absorbed and provide quick energy to the body. Have you ever reached for a candy bar when you were feeling tired? That's you feeding your body simple carbohydrates to get the boost you needed. More examples of simple carbohydrates are honey, breakfast cereals, breads and biscuits made with white flour, fruit juice, and most crackers.
Complex carbohydrates aren't as quickly digested as your body since they usually contain fiber and as a result, don't cause the spikes in blood sugar. They also carry a lot more nutrients than simple sugars. Some examples of complex carbohydrates include whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and legumes.
There has been a lot of talk about carbohydrates and how they hinder weight loss. To a certain extent that is true - if you eat too many carbs, then your body will end up storing them as fat. In addition, when you continue to go overboard on carbs, you become sluggish, overweight and retain water. But here's the thing: you body needs carbohydrates to fuel your brain, to create red blood cells (a key component of blood) and to repair wounds. So how much is too much?
Recent scientific studies show that daily carbohydrate intake between 100 grams and 150 grams per day is right where you want to be; enough carbs to run your body in a healthy, efficient manner but not get in the way of weight loss. Of course, if you are exercising strenuously on a daily basis, are recovering from illness or surgery, or have other health issues like diabetes, your optimum carbohydrate intake level may be different - and in some case, dramatically different. It's best to check with your doctor to be sure.

Your Guide to Eating Out for Low Carb Diet

Dieting can be stressful if you are constantly worried about which foods you can and can't eat. Eating out while dieting can sometimes be a nightmare. However, eating out on a low carb diet is just the opposite. It is very easy to adapt food from almost any cuisine at any restaurant to suit a low carb way of eating.
Just remembering three things will keep you on track when you eat out:
1. Know what you can eat, and what to avoid!
2. Plan ahead!
3. Stick to your guns!

Eating low carb means you actually have a lot of flexibility with your diet. Knowing which foods to avoid makes it easier to eat out without trying to guess what is acceptable. Great choices to look for when eating out include meats that are not breaded or battered, vegetables, salads, and fish that is not battered. Potatoes are generally off the menu, but why not try extra veggies instead? Consider eating 'outside the box'. If you want a juicy burger, go ahead and have it, without the bun. Replace the fries with carrot sticks to round out your meal. Salads offer unlimited options, as almost any meats and vegetables can be thrown in, and many restaurants offer some type of salad on their menu. Steak and mixed vegetables are always a great choice, and tasty, too!
Perhaps the most overlooked key to successfully eating out on a low carb diet is planning ahead. This simple step can save a lot of stress and worry. You'll already know what you can eat, so the next step is finding out what is on offer at the place you want to eat at. Go online to view menus ahead of time. You can even call the restaurant and ask questions about food preparation and ingredients. This way, you will be armed with the info needed to make good food choices. This step eliminates the stress and worry over what you'll order once you arrive, so you will be able to focus on enjoying your meal!
The most important thing you can do when eating out low carb is to stick to it. Many are tempted by the bread basket, teased by the desert tray, and give in to the pressure to be 'normal'. Maybe you don't want to seem demanding. Whatever the reason, just remember, you deserve to feel healthy and be happy. If it helps, consider your low carb diet the same as anyone that requires a special diet for a medical condition. There will be some foods you just can't eat, but don't be afraid to ask for the ones you can!
With more people choosing to eat low carb, restaurants are adjusting many of their menu items to accommodate. There are lots of great options available if you want to eat out and enjoy low carb foods. Knowing what you can eat, planning ahead, and sticking to it will keep you on track with your low carb diet. Use these simple steps to enjoy eating out on a low carb diet anytime!

Paying The Price for Obesity in Yet Another Way

There are a 2 issues here I would like to address:
Powerfully discriminating
It was unfair of the airline to suggest it was the passenger's fault they were obese

Powerfully discriminating: Yes it is. There are many reasons why the concept of body weight is painfully misleading & inaccurately judgmental.
Many of us in the health & fitness field implore people to look beyond BMI - a number based on weight. As much as the airline is altruistically contributing to fighting obesity (NOT) how about: very tall people, muscular builds, pregnancy, medical treatments... weight is not directly correlated with body fat. How bout skinny fat people - higher body fat, low body weight - yes I get it a kilo is a kilo - but don't say its to bring awareness to the obesity epidemic.
Fault: Why do we live in a world obsessed with fault - Sorry - fault leads to scapegoating, finger pointing & absolving ourselves of responsibility & the opportunity for personal growth & self betterment. Yes, there are many contributing factors to obesity, and yes, there are options for dealing with obesity. Fault is irrelevant - finding a go forward plan is very relevant.
Obesity is a chronic illness - as cancer, heart disease, alcoholism, arthritis... and yes there is always a silver lining... obesity is no exception. Chronic illnesses have medical & behavioral solutions. Hopefully we would not try & treat cancer or heart disease by ourselves - we seek guidance from health professionals.
We know obesity is a major contributor to all of our top lifestyle killers. Not only is it physiologically deadly, but obesity can be emotionally mortifying as well. As much as an obese person says "I have tried everything" yes - they easily could have tried everything they know - but the fact is...
there are many contributing lifestyle factors to obesity undiscovered, and is within personal power to lose the fat, get healthy. Help is needed to discover these issues.
We wouldn't treat cancer ourselves, please find out treatment options for obesity. People usually do think they are doing everything possible - just not true. Fact is, most people do not know what clean nutrition is, portion size, physical activity & what other lifestyle factors are fat loss saboteurs. That paradigm of diet, starve... not helping here.
Sustainable fat loss is a science to cure a diseased state, and should not be left in the hands of pop trends & fads. Understanding the fat cell is key here - but remember:
Fat cells do not go away, they only shrink
Fat cells give new meaning to "be fruitful & multiply"
Fat cells secrete nasty toxins, making sustainable fat loss very challenging

If an oncologist told us we needed surgery to remove a cancer or we would die, we do it. There are many circumstances where weight loss surgery is mandated equally to tumor removal. Again, obesity is a chronic illness - treat it accordingly. Get evaluated by an obesity surgeon who knows the many types of procedures available - because chances are there are many more procedures than you know, and many more procedures out there, but not available through local bariatric surgeons. Obesity is the leading cause of heart disease, cancer, diabetes... Treating obesity with the same passion & vigilance as cancer - that will save many thousands of lives. And yes... our health is our responsibility.
So let's ditch the guilt, blame, shame game. And Samoa airlines - please don't hide behind the gravity of the obesity epidemic as the noble excuse for higher revenues. Given current obesity numbers, yes it makes sense mathematically you would profit from such a policy. Your guilt of obesity is as shameful as the tobacco companies saying they are committed to reducing smoking - while their ways insidiously ensure increased addictions and profits.

Healthy Eating Tips That You Did Not Know

It's obvious everyone should be trying to live a healthy well balanced lifestyle so that you can maintain good health and live a long fulfilled life. Diets and eating healthy really don't need to be that difficult. I think a lot of people break their healthy eating routines and diets because they set the bar too high and make these exceptionally strict eating plans instead of thinking of dieting as more of a lifestyle change. Healthy food can be really tasty and doesn't need to be boring in the slightest. I have provided a couple of healthy eating tips below.
Fruit and Vegetables
We should be eating around five different vegetables and fruits on a daily basis which can sound quite daunting at first. It's really a lot easier than you think because you can just have fruit with your breakfast and have mixed vegetables at night with whatever meal you decide to cook for dinner. You can find a number of books from online health shops about fruit and vegetables.
Fish is great
Fish contains many vital vitamins, minerals and has a very high protein content which is great for weight loss since protein takes a lot more energy to digest than carbohydrates. Fish also contains essential fats such as omega 3 fats. These are known to decrease the risk of heart disease drastically. You can also keep fish in the freezer and not have to worry about going to the shop every day to purchase the freshest fish on the market.
Decrease Your Fat Intake
Fat is essential in any diet, but there are different kinds of fat that are either good or bad for you. We have both saturated and unsaturated. Too much saturated fat will increase your cholesterol levels which will increase your risk of heart disease. These fats are usually found in chocolates, chips, biscuits and cakes. Unsaturated fats are found in vegetable oils, fish and avocados. When you cooking meat make sure to use only a little bit of oil or butter.
Reduce Your Salt Intake
You will be surprised how much salt there is in the food you are currently eating. Try not to add too much salt to your food as this will likely increase your blood pressure fairly drastically. Having high blood pressure will increase your risk of having a stroke or heart disease.
Start Exercising
Probably the most important part of a healthy lifestyle is trying to do lots of exercise. This is great for your heart and blood flow. Chances of heart disease will increase drastically with lots of exercise.

My Experience Using Raspberry Ketone for Weight Loss

The Beginning of My Journey
I first heard about Raspberry Ketones from a well known TV doctor. This was a little over a year ago when I was first starting my weight loss journey. At the time I wasn't taking any supplements, I had recently started eating healthier and had started walking and working out at the gym a couple times a week.
Prior to watching the show I had never really believed that a supplement could help me lose weight, I was 100% sold on the "eat healthy and workout" way to lose weight. After watching the show and looking into the supplement a little more I decided to give it a try, its inexpensive and I was willing to try anything (within reason) to lose weight. From research I knew Raspberry Ketone was natural and safe so I didn't have a lot to lose (other than LB's).
This one decision, the acceptance of supplements into my weight loss mix no has no doubt helped me lose 30 or more pounds.
How Does it Work
Warning: Please prepare yourself as I may talk a little nerdy in the following paragraphs.
Raspberry Ketone helps with weight loss by starting lipolysis. Lipolysis is the breakdown of fat, in essence Raspberry Ketone takes the fat from a stored state, which is common in overweight and obese people, to a state where the body can use it as energy. Fat is a form of energy that is under utilized in those of us with tons of weight to lose. This ability to start the breakdown of fat is a huge reason why the supplement is effective.
The regulation of adiponectin, which is tied to the above is another reason why Raspberry Ketone is helpful in losing weight. Adiponectin is a hormone that has been found to be tied with obesity. High levels of adiponectin have been linked to being skinny, the reverse is also true, with low levels being linked to obesity. Adiponectin tricks your body into believing it is skinny, so high levels of adiponectin tell your body "Hey Your Skinny, start acting like it" and the body responds by letting go of fat. Raspberry Ketone has been found to increase levels of adiponectin which in turn raises the body's metabolism and leads to the loss of fat.
This concludes my description of how Raspberry Ketone works, if you are not a fan or talking nerdy you can now start reading again!
Benefits
Obviously the number one benefit of Raspberry Ketone is weight loss and specifically fat loss. Some have also found that it helps suppress your appetite causing you to eat fewer calories. I have never tried to track this as I feel like it would be rather complicated. I never noticed myself more full than prior to starting the supplement. I would be interested if anyone has actually tested this on themselves.
Side Effects
Raspberry Ketone is natural so it is regarded as safe, there are no known negative side effects. With that being said there are things to look for and people who shouldn't take the supplement. The supplement was created for adults so it is not recommended that kids or teens take Raspberry Ketone. You should also pay attention to the ingredients as some times companies will add fillers or binders or additional ingredients. Sometimes these ingredients are not safe, or have additional side effects. Personally I stick with pure Raspberry Ketone. Also women who are pregnant or nursing shouldn't take the supplement, you shouldn't take any weight loss supplement when you are pregnant or nursing.
My Results
Since I also work out and eat healthy every month, it's hard to judge how much of my weight loss comes from this one supplement, but I know my losses went up after starting the supplement. I also have tested it in a couple of different ways but nothing 100% definite as to its effectiveness. My goal has always been losing weight so I don't want to affect that goal by doing a proper test and potentially wasting time not taking a supplement that is helping me. For those reasons my results section of this will be somewhat speculation based on my limited tests and the way I feel about the supplement.
I have been taking Raspberry Ketone ever since I first found out about it. For that reason it is certainly the supplement I have had the most success with. On average I would say I could probably attribute 2-3 pounds of my weight loss to the Raspberry Ketone supplement. On average I have lost around 6-7 pounds a month for the last year, so 2 or so pounds is a decent chunk of that.
Suggested Dosage
There are tons of opinions about the recommended dosage, I have always chosen the highest to maximize my losses. In my research I found that the optimal dosage is 500mg twice per day, so that is what I take. I have also seen lower dosages suggested but since there is certainly no harm in taking 1000 mg a day and very little cost difference I opt for the 1000 mg a day.
Who Should and Who Shouldn't Take the Supplement
I have already addressed this briefly in a section above but I will clarify below.
Who Shouldn't Take This Supplement
  • Women who are nursing or pregnant
  • If you are under 18
  • If you take a medicine you feel may be affected (talk to your Doctor)
Who Will Benefit for This Supplement
  • Anyone who wants to lose weight that doesn't fall into a category above
*Of course for legal reasons I should state that none of this constitutes medical advice, you should always consult your Doctor with any concerns you may have.
My Brand Choices
In this section I will outline any brands I currently take as well as brands I have taken in the past and note whether they were successful or not.
Currently I take a Raspberry Ketone Supplement from Ava Falco. You can find a link to their Amazon.com page in the section below. You can also check out their website http://www.AvaFalco.com
I plan to write and review various weight loss supplements that I have tried or researched. I plan to talk about the weight loss benefits, side effects, who should take them, who shouldn't take them and anything else that could be important about the various supplements. I am a 20 something woman who has battled her weight dating back to high school. I have tried numerous times to lose weight and have never gained enough traction to truly make a difference. This time when I started about a year ago I vowed to finally change, to get the ball rolling and continue until I got a body I was truly happy with.

Is Your Diet Healthy or Are You Eating Yourself To Death?

It is common knowledge that anybody trying to lose weight must reassess the way they eat. It has never been easier to buy foods that are unhealthy; easier being the operative word. Modern living ensures that almost everything is at hand which enables achievement of almost anything with the minimum of effort. Food is the prime example of this with ready cooked meals being sold on every street corner. So, when you are commuting home after work, with the dreaded thought of having to cook, the most common solution is to get a take away.
There are three main ingredients in most convenience foods that can cause the human body untold damage over a period of time. These ingredients are saturated fats, salt and sugar. The shocking reason that these types of foods contain such harmful additives is for profit. Salt enhances the shelf life of a product; saturated fats are cheaper than the more healthy alternatives and sugar improves the taste. Furthermore, ask yourself this question - do you really know what you are eating when you consume convenience food?
Although alternatives are just as easy to come by, the preparation and cooking process takes a little effort. So, once again, you come back to the laziness and inertia mindset that seems to have become a twentieth century epidemic much the same as obesity. Whilst our bodies were designed for mobility, many people prefer to sit in front of their TV eating a plate of fries and just wishing their excess weight away. Sadly, this will never happen. The only way to lose those unwanted pounds is by following the advice of an effective weight loss program.
There are a number of alternatives that can help anybody to lose weight like having a gastric band fitted. But this is an unnatural process and many people have them fitted out of sheer desperation. This last resort can be avoided and resolved the natural way; a weight loss plan can offer the same advantages but in a more comfortable manner. There is only one thing that deters a person and that is effort, but is your body not worth making the effort for?
You will only ever have one body; it is not like a car where you can trade it in for a new one. The funny thing is that many people care for their cars far better than they do themselves. It is up to you to take control of your body and look after it. By taking this action it could ensure that you live a long and healthy life.
Losing weight can be extremely stressful if you don't choose the correct weight loss program. So find out the most relaxed and stress-free way to reduce your weight by visiting http://www.dietfreely.weebly.com

It Looks Like a Pumpkin, Smells Like Fruit And Attacks 2 Common Type 2 Diabetic Conditions

Type 2 diabetics often suffer from fatty body weight, rising blood sugar levels, and cholesterol levels over 200.
Over the last few years, scientists at respected medical institutions, including Harvard, Creighton, UC Berkeley and others have turned to a pumpkin-like Asian fruit as a remedy to solve these conditions.
It's called garcinia cambogia and it's a wild-growing plant from the moist, rain-drenched Asian forests. Ancient folk lore had it that tribal bush people used this natural ingredient to suppress their hunger on long hunting trips
Recently, scientists from around the world have applied research procedures to measure the benefits of garcinia cambogia to help Type 2 diabetics.
Based on clinical tests, Dr. Harry Preuss at Georgetown University's Medical Center has found that it does actually help improve 2 of the 3 most common Type 2 diabetic conditions, reducing body fat and lowering cholesterol levels.
Also, the Burdock Group, an independent test facility tested the safety of this wild fruit and found that it passed a range of toxicity tests, making it safe for us in the short and long run.
Pharmaceutical companies have spent millions of dollars trying to create drugs that help Type 2 diabetics lead healthier lives.
Leave it to the ancient Asian bush people, without benefit of a medical degree to find a remedy for Type 2 diabetics, growing wild in the forest.
How does it work?
The dried fruit rind of Garcinia cambogia is a rich source of HCA, and has been used for centuries as a spice, flavor-enhancer, preservative and digestive aid throughout Southeast Asia.

Thus, it has a long history of consumption in countries where the plant is native. Structurally, HCA is similar to the common food additive citric acid, which also occurs naturally in citrus fruits such as oranges and lemons. The high bioavailability of HCA from Super CitriMax® (60% HCA) has been demonstrated in humans.
A primary mode of HCA action appears to be its ability to inhibit ATP-citrate lyase, an enzyme that helps to form the building blocks of fatty acids and cholesterol.

Why Should You Think About Natural Wart Removal Techniques?

Warts are small and benign tumors that most of the times appear on hands and feet, although they can be found on the whole body. Apart from being unsightly, they are also contagious and long lasting, so you have to think about natural wart removal.
In order to get rid of their warts, almost all persons opt for medical procedures, such as cryogenic removal, which is a treatment performed with the help of liquid nitrogen, laser surgeries, or surgical curettages. Generally, due to these procedures, you might experience pain, unwanted marks, and no good effects. As a consequence, people have started utilizing natural remedies which don't involve pain and too much money. You may not believe, but it is true. All you need is a banana peel with which you rub the wart.
If you have no patience, you can simply put the banana peel on the wart and fix it with a piece of duct tape or adhesive bandage. Don't expect to see an immediate progress because this treatment must be repeated for several weeks in order to give good results. This sort of remedy is usually found in all homes. Apart from its general culinary use, apple cider vinegar has proved to be effective even in removing warts. Use the apple cider vinegar to bathe a cotton ball, then place it over the wart and use duct tape to keep it there. You can leave it overnight although it may irritate your skin. In case you think it is too harsh for your skin, reapply the remedy once in two days, and not each day. It shouldn't take more than a week for this remedy to work if performed properly.
The allergic effects of potatoes don't have to worry you, so you can place slices of potato over your warts over and over again. This aspect being considered, potatoes represent a great wart treatment. They remove warts in a couple of weeks. Castor oil is a traditional remedy which can eliminate warts in several months. This plant contains Aloe Vera juice that has a double effect when it comes to warts. If you apply castor oil over your warts, the Aloe Vera will infiltrate into your skin and remove them, while if you consume Aloe Vera, your immune system will be aided in the battle with the warts virus. In case you can't find castor oil, utilize whatever cream which consists of aloe because it will bring you the same results.
Duct tape is among the items utilized in almost all situations, as well as when it comes to eliminating warts. Considering all the natural remedies explained above, doctors regularly advise individuals to opt for this one since all they have to do is to put duct tape on the wart. If the duct tape falls off, you replace it with another piece until the wart completely comes off with it.
Each one of these natural wart removal remedies is effective after a certain period of time, but they often treat the effect, not the cause. In order for your body to be able to defeat the warts virus, you have to keep improving your immune system with the help of foods that contain vitamin C.

What is Real Hunger?

In order to identify hunger, you must first understand what it is. This is not as easy as it seems. Many of you may never have let yourself experience true hunger, only a feeling of discomfort. Not knowing exactly what it was, you may have been eating past hunger for such a long time you can no longer differentiate between hunger and the feeling of anxiety, stress, boredom, or any number of other emotional or circumstantial stimuli. You haven't allowed yourself to go without eating for a long enough period of time to have felt true hunger; you may not have experienced it since childhood.
Each of us is born with an innate sense of hunger. When you were a baby and felt this sensation, you cried. Your mother or caregiver pacified you with a bottle or breast, and when you were no longer hungry, you pushed the food away. Before you could speak, you made yourself understood.
As a toddler beginning to eat baby food, you were still in control of your food consumption. Your mother might have thought you had to finish everything she served, but you had other ideas. You might have clenched your little baby teeth and not permitted one extra spoonful of anything to enter your mouth. She might have pushed your chubby little cheeks together trying to force you to open your mouth, but you would not. If she did manage to insert some food, you spit it out, sometimes on your bib, sometimes on mom. The message was clear. "No more food, Mommy."
As she persevered, you finally learned to please your mother by finishing everything on your plate. You may have been told that if you ate your vegetables, your reward would be dessert. You were bribed with a lollipop if you'd stop crying. You learned to eat all your food because it gave pleasure to others. It didn't seem to matter anymore whether you were hungry or not. You were taught to ignore your feelings of hunger and satiation just to please someone else. And you learned well.
Years later, you're still keeping a friend company by sharing a meal when you're not hungry, or accepting an alcoholic beverage just to be part of the crowd, or to please a hostess.
The dictionary describes hunger as "the painful sensation or state of weakness caused by need of food." Some people become irritable, shaky, or disoriented if they are not fed at their usual mealtime. Others experience hunger as feeling lightheaded, empty, low, headachy, or hollow. At times a growling stomach prompts an eating episode. Some eat when they get depressed. Others lose their appetite when they get depressed. External stimuli are abundant, as are emotional and physical ones, yet few of these are hunger, just some other strain on your nervous system.
Human beings have a built-in fight or flight mechanism that helps them to survive. When your ancestors roamed the earth and encountered a tiger who had leaped out of the bushes, they would mobilize themselves to either fight the tiger or flee from it. Years later, you still face the tigers. A death in the family, loss of a job, or an illness may certainly have the bite of a tiger. Your pulse quickens, your mouth feels dry, your palms sweat and you revert to old behavior and try to quell the anxiety by putting something into your mouth. You also may be reacting to the fluctuations of daily life - a waiter being inept, traffic inching along, a line at the bank - that cause you to eat a box of cookies or ask for a second helping of food. You might be misidentifying a minor travail as a tiger when it is only a baby cub.
Have you had the experience of thinking you were hungry at noontime only to become absorbed in a project or in a book, and have several hours pass before you think about food again? True hunger cannot wait a few hours. It demands to be fed. You were not hungry at noon but were responding to a time of day stimulus, another reason you've given yourself to eat. If you distract yourself with some other activity, the urge usually passes within a few minutes. Try to differentiate between your hungers and your urges.
Food need not fill you up in order for you to feel satisfied. A few bites of foods you don't usually eat can be very satisfying while baskets of bread, mugs of coffee, or liter bottles of diet soda might leave you feeling hungry and unsatisfied.
It is not okay to eat when you are physically or emotionally uncomfortable. Eat when you're hungry. Stop eating when you are no longer hungry, not when you are full or there is nothing remaining on your plate. As your clothes get looser, you'll start to enjoy leaving food on your plate. It is a process that takes time to achieve. Remember:
· Volume of non-nutritious food merely stuffs and bloats but does not satisfy real hunger.
· Variety and texture along with nutrition satiates hunger.

Get Rid Of 3,500 Calories, Get Rid Of 1 Pound

Did you know that in order to lose one pound of weight, you essentially need to get rid of 3,500 calories? That may sound like a large number, but when you take a moment to figure out how many calories you need to eat on a daily basis you will find that by shaving off a few hundred calories per day, you will be able to lose at least a pound each and every week.
Even though a pound per week may not seem like significant weight loss, looking at the bigger picture, a pound each week equates to approximately four pounds per month. Over a six month period that is twenty four pounds!
Would you like to take off twenty four pounds from what you are currently weighing right now?
That's twenty four pounds in six months by merely losing one pound per week shaving calories off your daily consumption amount. In order to be effective with cutting calories, one of the best ways to target and track this process is by using a calorie counter.
Before you throw your hands up in the air and think here comes a sales pitch, let me tell you that most calorie counters are absolutely free to use. Better yet, they can even be accessed directly from your cellular device if you have a smartphone such as a BlackBerry, Android, iPhone, or Galaxy.
If you don't have a phone capable of running applications, you can always simply use their online tools at their websites to access the same information. The only difference would be the convenience and portability factor that comes with being able to access the calorie counter on the go.
Regardless of which method you use, there's no reason why you can't start focusing on lowering your daily calorie consumption through the use of an effective calorie counter.
Try one out and see how beneficial they can be to help you stay focused on your efforts to lose weight. When your eyes are opened to the actual nutritional content of some of the food choices you have made in the past, or are currently thinking about, you may find yourself making more health conscious choices. Your efforts will be greatly increased when you also tie in regular exercise which will additionally help burn extra calories off your daily total.
Remember, when you are able to get rid of 3,500 calories, you will get rid of one pound. Naturally don't try and go for that full amount in one or two days, but when you use a calorie counter to help focus on each individual day, you will find yourself able to shave a few hundred calories off your daily allowance by eating only healthy choices.

Exercises for Weight Loss - Achieve Your Aspirations for a Beautiful Balanced Body

If you are looking for exercises for weight loss, you do not have far to search as there are myriads of them on the Internet that you could consider to achieve your weight loss aspirations. You can also find access to several brick and mortar gyms with specialist physical trainers who will tell you the right way to go about exercises for weight loss.
Every exercise has its own levels and methods that help in weight control and their individual rate of success depends entirely on the rate of metabolism that they can generate, and these differ from exercise to exercise.
You have two types of exercises, which are the aerobic and the anaerobic or strength training exercises that have their own distinctive ways of contributing to weight loss. During the aerobic exercises the calories and fats burn while the exercise is in the process, while strength training causes weight loss by increasing your RMR or resting metabolic rate that refers to the quantum of calories that you burn while resting.
There is a misconception in some circles that walking is not a good enough exercise, but this is not true as it is one of the best exercises for achieving weight loss because it enhances the body metabolism. It also, surprisingly maintains the increased rate even up to four hours after walking and the continued higher rate of metabolism is instrumental in burning calories and fat rapidly.
Most fitness experts opine that aerobic exercises also called cardiovascular exercises are the best way to burn calories and lose weight. You must remember that strength training, weight lifting and interval short bursts of training do not really contribute heavily to fat burn, but instead, are ideal for building muscle and contribute indirectly to weight loss by coercing the body to burn up the fats to build and maintain the growing muscles.
In all types of exercises, you must remember the useful importance of a warm-up, as this is what prepares the muscles to remain flexible and avert injury during the major exercises. Slow walking, low intensity movements or rotations of your trunk are ideal warm-up exercises if done for about 10 minutes. You can also go for endurance exercises and other simple weight exercises along with a few push-ups.
Some other exercises that could give you great results in muscle-building and weight loss are:
- Lower Body Stretch - This is an exercise where you keep folding your hands behind your head and stand with your feet shoulder apart. Now bend forward to try to touch your toes, hold the position for 30 seconds, revert to the original position and repeat at least 10 times.
- Bent Torso Pull - In this exercise, you stretch your legs wide apart without straining while you are in a sitting position. While you bend one knee towards your torso, you should pull your chest downwards to touch the thigh on this leg and then twist at the waist, hold the position for 10 seconds and repeat the same movement on the opposite side. Do these exercises 10 times each.

"Trying" To Lose Weight? Don't!

Are you trying to lose weight?
If you are, STOP!
Funny thing to say coming from someone that wants to help you lose all the weight you want, right?
Actually, there's a good reason.
You see, you can't try to lose weight. Don't believe me?
OK, let's use an example. Look around where you are sitting right now and find a small object. Perhaps a pen, envelope or book. Got it?
Now, try to pick it up. Go ahead.
Is it in your hand? If it is, well, then you didn't try, you actually picked it up. If it's not in your hand, you didn't.
Simple, right?
There's no middle ground in doing. You can't "try" to do anything, it's a fallacy. You either do it, or don't do it.
The same applies to losing weight (or anything else for that matter). Saying that you'll try gives your mind fuzzy instructions, and it will return fuzzy results, results that aren't what you really want. It also gives you a "way out" if you don't achieve the goals you set out to reach.
You see, your subconscious mind doesn't interpret your directions, it just goes to work following them as complete truth. When you say you'll "try to lose weight", it will "try" to follow your instructions, which we now know is impossible.
What in fact you want, (if you really do) is to lose weight. To feel better. To have more energy. To overcome health challenges. To look great.
Now, if you say you want to lose weight and are not successful, or continue to use language that includes words like "try" or "we'll see" or "maybe", perhaps you're wired backwards.
What does that mean? Well, maybe you say that you want to lose weight, but your mind says it doesn't. Somewhere along the way you gave your mind instructions that it's too hard, or impossible, to lose the weight you want. Perhaps you're more comfortable where you are now, but know that it's the right thing to say that you want to lose weight.
If this is the case, ask yourself what beliefs you hold that are at odds with what you want. For example, "it's too hard to lose weight", "it's impossible to lose weight", "I can't lose weight because I'd have to exercise all the time", "I'll lose my friends if I lose weight", "I can't lose weight because I've always failed".
Ask yourself if in fact they are true. Are they making your life easier, or more difficult? Do these beliefs serve you or harm you?
Then, replace the old beliefs with new ones. Positive, confident statements about how you want to look and feel.
The best way to lose weight is to avoid saying you'll "try" to lose weight, and say you "will" lose weight. See yourself at your ideal weight. Imagine how great you look and feel. Use positive language and give your mind specific instructions like "I'm now happily at my ideal weight of (number of pounds) weight" or "I now happily choose to wear a size (your ideal size)".
Watch your language and self talk closely and avoid using "try". It may take constant attention at the beginning, but after a short time, you'll get used to keeping your language positive, upbeat and confident.
Your weight loss results will follow immediately, depending on how confident, committed and persistent you are in applying these exercises. The more confident, committed and persistent, the faster your results will appear.
You CAN do it!

Fight Food Addiction, One Day at a Time

To become a social worker I had to attend an Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meeting or a Narcotics Anonymous meeting. Before attending this meeting I never gave thought to people who were addicted to substances or bad lifestyle behaviors. I thought the AA group was interesting but it was just an assignment to me. When working in the therapy setting addicts would always try to challenge anything I said because I would not confirm or deny whether I was ever an addict. They worried if I could sympathize with what they were going through. It wasn't until recently that I realized I was an Addict.
I have a food addiction that I like to call addictive eating behaviors. For example I eat when I'm not hungry, I can eat when I'm happy, sad, or bored that's what people call emotional eating. Eating doesn't have to be tied to an emotion for me. Food is and has been my best friend for years. My biggest issue, like others is breaking unhealthy patterns and food relationships. Lifestyle changes only manifest one day at a time, therefore making the change is a one day at a time process as well.
To begin healthy habits, unhealthy habits have to be broken. I have learned that the breaking of these unhealthy habits start in the brain. The brain is a very powerful muscle and has to be exercised daily. So I meditate daily on my new habits and what I have to do to stick to them. Meditating and saying affirmations are not time consuming but they have to do be done consistently in order for them to work. For example one of my personal meditations is "This is not a diet it's a lifestyle change." I also ask myself questions before I indulge in foods that can sabotage my lifestyle. "Is this food worth sabotaging my whole day?" Another affirmation of mine is "I can do it I am a food addict over-comer". Once I get my brain involved my body follows.
Action consists of making a meal plan ahead of time. I know my goal, which is to lose 20 pounds overall but my weekly goal is to lose 1 to 2 pounds a week. So I take time at the beginning of the week to plan my meals as well as scheduling in exercise, which is time, that is non-negotiable. The time is allotted to me for the sole purpose of just working out. "I deserve it I am worth it" another affirmation to meditate on.
After working on my action plan, it's time to implement the plan. Before implementation I pray because I need the added strength of God. When ice cream, cookies and cakes are calling me, I realize I can't do this by myself, if I could I would have already done it.
Once my day is over I take time to reflect on my day and I ask myself;
1. How was it?
2. What worked?
3. What didn't?
4. What do I have to tweak?
With all that in mind, I plan for the next day and I have a sense of control. I Reward myself for a job well done preferably not with food, although at times I do, I prefer non digestible rewards. Breaking addictions are not is easy but if you maintain your level of commitment to your eating habits and create daily plans. These positive behavioral changes will make it easier to set and maintain health and wellness goals.

Permanent Weight Loss - Is A Lifestyle Change

Sometimes as little as 10 pounds can make a difference in how you feel physically and emotionally. I know from personal experience how it is to be depressed about your weight. I needed to lose weight and get over this feeling of helplessness.
My first weight loss change was my sleeping habits.
I had problems getting to sleep and then would wake up several times during the night and then have problems going back to sleep. Most nights I would get about 6 hours of sleep, which is well below what I needed. I didn't know at the time that all of these can contribute to weight gain. I needed to find the path to permanent weight loss so I started doing some research and found out that when you don't get enough sleep your leptin levels are down, which means you don't feel satisfied after you eat and your ghrelin levels are up, which means your appetite is stimulated, so you want more food, and that people getting less than 8 hours of sleep have a higher level of body fat. So how was I going to lose weight if I wasn't getting enough sleep?
First, I tried going to bed at the same time every night. If I'm not sleepy I am wasting my time going to bed, but I started going to bed 30 minutes earlier than usual and then a little earlier every night until I was up to 1 hour. I didn't watch television or be on the computer for 30 minutes before retiring. I learned to NOT eat or drink a lot of fluids after dinner. I am one of the many who pays the price if I drink a lot between dinner and bedtime. As I am trying to lose weight, I am trying to not drink much of anything after dinner and have found that I do sleep better if I don't need to get up several times to use the bathroom.
Experts agree that getting a few extra hours of sleep is good, especially if you are getting six hours or less a night. All of the above helped me get more sleep and a better quality of sleep.
Once I had my sleep under control I needed to concentrate on losing the weight. I needed to find a weight loss plan that I could live with in the long haul. I think I have finally realized that permanent weight loss is a life style change, not something you can do in the short haul to lose some weight and then go back to your same old eating habits to only gain back the weight and then some.
After finding a plan that worked for me I started to exercise. I had to start slow and tried to add just 5 minutes a day. I feel so much better now that I am exercising and love that it is also boosting my metabolism!
I am drinking eight glasses of water throughout the day and love that it helps flush out the fat and it also helps keep me from being hungry.
I am beginning to think that finally I am on the right road to permanent weight loss.
Sleep plays a big part of losing weight. When you don't get enough sleep your leptin levels are down, which means you don't feel satisfied after you eat and your ghrelin levels are up, which means your appetite is stimulated, so you want more food, and that people getting less than 8 hours of sleep have a higher level of body fat.
I needed to find a weight loss plan that I could live with in the long haul. I have finally realized that permanent weight loss is a life style change, not something you can do in the short haul to lose some weight and then go back to your same old eating habits.
